Office of Planning, Research & Effectiveness

Institutional Effectiveness = Planning and Research
Institutional Effectiveness (IE) is an integral part of PCC’s quest for continuous improvement of programs, services and administrative functions.

The college’s institutional effectiveness process is an on-going, college-wide process of planning, research, and outcomes assessment for the purpose of documenting the college is achieving its mission and continuously improving its programs and services.

The Office of Planning, Research, and Effectiveness monitors institutional compliance with the Principles of Accreditation published by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. PCC was reaffirmed in 2013 and will go through the reaffirmation process again in 2022-2023.

The Office of Planning, Research, and Effectiveness guides the annual planning process for the college. Planning improves the efficiency at which the college functions, avoids conflicting goals among college offices and helps individuals make better-informed decisions about allocation of resources and the future of the college. Planning also helps the college meet accountability mandates set by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Commission on Colleges.

Research is conducted within the college in order to provide information which supports planning, policy formation and decision making.

Outcome Assessment

Assessment of outcomes is a college-wide process of identifying expected outcomes, assessing the achievement of these outcomes, and providing evidence of improvement based on the analysis of results in each of the following areas: academic programs (to include student learning outcomes), administrative support services, and educational support services.

Web Resource

Surveys are conducted throughout the year to assess how the college is performing in regards to services and programs offered. Input is also collected on new topics as they relate to students, businesses, the community, faculty, and staff.
