Cosmetology Students Open Salon for Spring Semester 2012

January 18, 2012

Want an example of confidence?

A regular client of the Pamlico Community College cosmetology students made it through the holidays waiting for the teaching salon to re-open in January. When the client was called for his turn, he wasn’t sure he recognized the student assigned to cut his hair.

He asked, “Have you ever done my hair before?”

The student, in a simple matter of fact manner replied, “No. The lady before you was my first client. But she seemed really pleased.”

Imagine the thoughts that could be evolving within this man’s psyche. Mmmmm.

But based on past experience and confidence in the highly skilled instructors, Debi Fulcher and Rhonda Riddick, he cheerfully awaited his fate.

As the cutting process progressed, the novice with the scissors proceeded with both confidence and caution as she relied on Ms. Fulcher for instructions as she advanced from the base of his neck, around the ears, and to the crown of his skull.

It was how the cut looked around his ears that always concerned him. He knew the sky would not fall and whatever was left would grow out again if the cut didn’t match his hopes for adding youth to his advancing years.

But guess what.

After leaving the chair he walked around to another mirror in the salon and took a really close look. He called Ms. Fulcher aside and told her, “This is exactly how I have always wanted my hair to look.”

From the novice on the salon floor for her first day to significantly advanced students, the Pamlico Community College cosmetology students offer professional care and service for the broadest possible spectrum of cosmetology service.
